Soft spoken poet Ursula Rucker debuts with a powerful full-length release of observations on the state of human relations and urban music in the company of top producers including King Britt, Jonah Sharp and Alexis Mauri (aka Alexkid from the F Comm label). Known for her contributions to three albums by The Roots (who were the band on Erykah Badu's debut), Rucker has also delivered some street strength monologues on tracks by Josh Wink, Silent Poets and 4 Hero (British Talkin Loud artists who produce two string-y tracks here). Despite using seven different producers on Supa Sista, the Philadelphia poet maintains a unity of sound, mostly understated hip hop-jazz with tasteful electric piano and string backing, guesting quality soul vocalists Ovasoul7 and Vicki Miles (especially effective on "Letter To a Sister Friend"). Available now in a special limited edition digi pack including book with lyrics, photos and notes.
