ITALMEDIA S.R.L |
Corriere Canadese, the only daily Italian newspaper published in Canada, was founded in 1954 by Daniel Iannuzzi. Since 1995 it also has a weekend edition entirely in English, entitled Corriere Canadese/Tandem.
"Corriere Canadese" is aimed at the vast Italian community (almost two million people in a population of more than 32 million), and for those who speak and read Italian. The weekend edition reaches their children, born and raised in Canada, whose mother tongue is English.
The aim of "Corriere Canadese" - distributed with La Repubblica - is to keep the Italian language and culture alive. The purpose of Corriere Canadese/Tandem is to inform about "things Italian in English."
Corriere Canadese/Tandem is owned by Multimedia Nova Corporation of Toronto, a public company listed on the TSX Venture exchange. Corriere Canadese/Tandem is published by Italmedia srl and printed in Canada by NewsWeb Printing & Distribution Corporation.
Corriere Canadese is distributed in Ontario, especially in the Toronto area (where about 600,000 Italians live) and in Montreal (Quebec, 300,000 Italians) where it has also a branch office. Presently, the plan is to expand Corriere Canadese at a national level. This would allow "Corriere Canadese" to further penetrate the Italian communities in cities like Ottawa, the Niagara Peninsula, Windsor, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.
