Spending more time acting in the last two years (in Snatch, The World Is Not Enough and as a debt-collector on Eastenders!) than producing the music, drum & bass superstar DJ Goldie is back with a kickin' mixed CD named after his new website. Opening with the sweeping string synth intro of Future Cut's "Obsession" Goldie reminds us of the classy sound of his label Metalheadz‚ heyday in 1995 before dropping the current beats by his artists including Total Science, Marcus Intalex and Digital. Goldie has a soft side on his own albums (and on his closing tune here titled "Beachdrifta") but as a DJ he likes the rough rolling and tough funky tech-step rhythms stressed by tense synth chords and boom-y dub bass by producers including Cause 4 Concern and Ray Keith aka Twisted Anger. Not for the faint of heart!
