Sometimes a crop rotation style of creation works wonders for multi-media artists. Then you have those individuals who are truly renaissance, who wish to do it all. What better time to harbour such an attitude than the 21st century, rife with opportunity to exploit the mind-meld between computer and human imagination?
Marco Veltri is one magician of technology as he takes advantage of the full range of artistic possibilities. An emerging filmmaker, photographer, and painter, Veltri has honed his talents into a single enterprise, what he calls "Epyllion." This is the brainchild of Veltri and has become the vehicle through which he has funnelled all his creative talents.
Epyllion is unique because it unites traditional artistry with 3D digital tools. In combining the skills of a variety of disciplines including script writing, photography, cinematography, design, architecture, matte painting, traditional and digital 3D model making and special effects, Epyllion has constructed a self-sufficient industry unto itself, with the computer as its main instrument.
As a production company, Epyllion is responsible for a number of award-winning projects, including a few short films which premiered at some of the more reputable film festivals. This year Epyllion is pleased to announce that it is making its entrance into the harsh world of feature filmmaking. In January of 2003, the production will set its course, though the members of Epyllion remain protective of their baby. To say too much too soon might be to spoil the goods, so to speak. If you want to check out what all the fuss is about, you can check out a sample of Veltri's latest short in the comfort of your own home. Just go to www.paintingmylife.com for a peek into this inspiring mind.
Or you may want to check out this artist at this year's annual Toronto Photography Festival: Contact. Gallery 401 will be premiering Veltri's photography as it has never been seen before in a show titled By-Passing Light: A Study in Colour.
