I've been reading alot about the women in Afghanistan forced to wear veils which pretty much make them invisible. Of course this is horrible, but is it news? we've been hearing about the atrocities for years, and while the rest of the world went nuts when the Taliban tore down the Buddhas of Baharain, nobody said a word about the women. I wonder if, when the new Afghani government is in place, the UN insist that rights be given back to women? I doubt it.

I would like to add: a lot of people are shocked by the Talibans forcing women to wear a burqa; how come nobody is shocked by Muslim women being brainwashed at home since the earliest age into wearing the "milder" version of the veil? The reason, after all, is supposedly the same: for "modesty".
I do not accept people doing irrational things simply because a priest or an imam or a pastor or a rabbi or a medicine man or a wizard or anybody else claims it is "God's Will". God's self-appointed mouthpieces have vested interests, and it would be high time people stopped blindly obeying them.
Maybe then no one will hurl planes against buildings in His name any more.
