Queen Street West goes wild over artists

By

After the many festivals and exhibitions that have hit Toronto over the summer, including the mega-Rolling Stones concert, communities haven't given up. On August 23, 2003, Queen Street will be showing its artistic wares to the public. It is a day not to be missed.
From Parkdale to Spadina, you will find galleries, open studios, shops and restaurants celebrating the Queen West scene. The heart of this whole event is found at Trinity Bellwoods Park. Art lovers and adventurers can visit this outdoor art show and sale featuring the work of more than 100 artists. The Queen West Art is the first of its kind on this part of town, and the years ahead promise to be bigger.
Included in this exciting day are: Outdoor Art Show & Sale at Trinity Bellwoods Park featuring 100 artists; Open Studios of 25 artists on and around Queen Street West; exhibitions at local galleries, as well as restaurants and bars; happenings for live music and theatre at local performance venues.
There is a Queen West Art Crawl Guide, available at local shops and businesses in the Queen Street West area during the week of the event. It contains a complete listing of participating artists, galleries, theatres, shops and restaurants.
The Queen West Art Crawl is organized by Toronto Artscape. It is a non-profit organization that creates affordable space for the arts. Artscape would like to thank and pay tribute to the artists, volunteers, community representatives, galleries, theatres, as well as the 24 local businesses and sponsors who have helped make the Crawl possible.
