Short Film Fest with a Kiss

By Angela Baldassarre

The Canadian Film Centre's World Wide Short Film Festival gets underway on June 4 with a 182 shorts from 39 countries, including Italy's Il Bacio (The Kiss).
Roberto Totola's delightful seven-minute film centres on a couple that stops on their way from a restaurant to give each other what seems to be an interminable kiss. Very funny.
Also in this year's festival are Anne-Emanuelle Romanelli's Fork Keeps, about a single paranoid woman; Claudia Solti's Chasing Heaven, about a father having to tell his 10-year-old son that his mother has died; John Sparano's Reality School, a mockumentary about acting school; Media Whore starring Taye Diggs and Coolio; Doppleganger starring Rebecca Gayheart; Upheaval starring Frances McDormand; Member starring Josh Hartnett; Laud Weiner starring David Hyde Pierce; The Upgrade starring Minnie Driver; and Faye Dunaway's The Yellow Bird starring Brenda Blethyn and James Coburn.
The festival runs until June 9 in several venues along Bloor Street. For more information call 416.205.3951.
